Understanding the Terms: Nabi and Rasul

What is a Nabi?

A Nabi is a prophet, someone who receives revelations from Allah to guide their people to the right path. However, a Nabi does not necessarily bring a new set of laws or a new book; instead, they reinforce the existing divine laws brought by previous messengers.

What is a Rasul?
Rasul , or messenger, is a prophet who is given a specific mission to deliver a new divine message, often in the form of scripture or a new set of laws. A Rasul not only communicates with their people but also leads them to follow a new divine code or scripture.

The Differences Between Nabi and Rasul

While both Nabi and Rasul are prophets, the main distinction lies in the type of message they deliver and the scope of their mission:

– Nabi (Prophet) : A Nabi continues the teachings of previous messengers and does not bring a new scripture or law. They remind people of what previous messengers taught and call people to worship Allah alone.

– Rasul (Messenger) : A Rasul, on the other hand, is sent with a new set of divine laws, often with a scripture, and is tasked with reforming society by establishing these new laws. All Rasuls are Nabis, but not all Nabis are Rasuls.
